    • There is a thread with 20VT load data that is very good. 18.7 is probably .2 grains more than most people fear to tread. You may see some pressure signs once it warms up a bit more. Consensus would be that H4198 is the better performer vs. IMR, but every rifle is different.

Here is the long version: both cartridges are based on the same parent case: the 221 FB, but the 17 Mach IV (17M4) is a very finicky cartridge.

    • 20vt loads As Alex mentioned any load data that Kindler uses should be taken with a large grain of caution, and if you dabbled in small calibers this is old news. As for BD I've used it for several years in 223's to give 22mag performance and will continue to do so.

  • Feb 24, 2016 · Most of my annealing is with cases that have been fired and sized several times, so I'm restoring ductility rather than making changes. I've had good results annealing prairie dog cases once a year. With well over 1500 223ai, 20-223ai, 20vt etc, I don't think I've lost more than 5-6 to cracking. I don't think I ever lost a 30BR case.

    I'm having trouble coming up with much published reloading data for the 20 vartarg. Coopers load is 18 gr of h335 and a 32 vmax. This load only produced 2900 fps. I wasn't overly impressed with the speed or accuracy of this load. Ive played alittle with reloader 7 and see a few signs of promise there. I bought Todd kindles book terrific 20s hoping it would have a lot of data posted, but I was pretty disappointed.
